MOT preparation across the North West

We check your car before its MOT and fix the usual failure points, so it has the best chance of passing first time.

An MOT fail means a retest, time off the road and often a bill you were not expecting. A pre-MOT check at your home or work finds the problems first, while there is still time to put them right.

We do not carry out the MOT test itself: only DVSA-approved test centres can do that. We get the car ready for it, and if it has already failed, send us the failure sheet and we will quote for the repairs.

What we check before the test

Lights, suspension, brakes and tyres are among the most common reasons cars fail. Our pre-MOT check covers the areas the tester looks at, including:

  • Lights and indicators
  • Tyres and tread depth
  • Brakes
  • Suspension and steering
  • Wipers, washers and windscreen
  • Dashboard warning lights
  • Exhaust leaks and smoke
  • Horn, mirrors and seatbelts
  • Number plates

Anything that needs work is priced before we start, and most repairs can be done there and then.

How it works

  1. Tell us when it is due

Send us your reg and the date your MOT runs out.

  2. We check it over

At home or at work, against the points the tester looks at.

  3. A clear price

Anything that needs doing is quoted before we touch it.

  4. Ready for the test

Take it to the test centre knowing the usual failure points are sorted.

Get it checked early

You can have an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before your current one runs out and keep the same renewal date. Booking your pre-MOT check before then leaves time to fix anything we find, so the car never goes out of date.

MOT questions

All questions

How much does a typical repair cost?

Without the overheads of a fixed garage, our labour rates are usually lower than main dealers and many local workshops. Prices depend on the job, the make and the parts needed, but you always get a clear quote before any work starts, and servicing is fixed-price. There are no hidden call-out fees within our normal area, and we will tell you if a repair would not be worth it compared with what the car is worth.

Can you carry out the MOT test itself?

No. MOT tests can only be done at a DVSA-approved test centre. What we do is check your car over before the test and put right the usual failure points, so it has the best chance of passing first time. If it has already failed, send us a photo of the failure sheet and we will quote for the repairs.

How early can I get my MOT done?

You can have an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before your current certificate runs out and keep the same renewal date. Checking the car before then leaves time to fix anything that turns up, so it never goes out of date.

Book a pre-MOT check

Send us your reg, your MOT date and where the car will be, and we will get back to you with a price and our earliest time.

Some evening and Saturday appointments available at no extra labour charge.

For example: engine light came on this morning and it feels down on power.
A photo of the warning light or the damage helps us give you a closer price.
