Mobile clutch replacement across the North West

Clutch slipping, juddering or getting heavy? We replace it on your driveway or in the car park at work, with a clear quote before we start.

A mechanic working underneath a car

Most people assume a new clutch means a trip to the garage, a hire car and a few days without their own. It doesn’t. We replace clutches on your driveway or in the car park at work, and you get a clear, written quote before any work starts.

If a particular car needs workshop equipment, we tell you before we start, then arrange transport and oversee the work, so you are never left guessing.

Signs your clutch is going

A clutch wears gradually, so the signs creep up on you. Call us if you notice:

  • The revs rise but the car does not speed up
  • The biting point is high or keeps changing
  • Juddering as you pull away
  • Gears are hard to select or crunch
  • A noise when you press or release the pedal
  • A heavy, spongy or sticking pedal
  • A burning smell after hill starts

What affects the cost of a clutch replacement

Clutch jobs vary a lot from car to car, so we don’t publish a one-size price. These are the things that decide it:

  • The car itself

Front, rear or four-wheel drive, and how much has to come apart to reach the gearbox.

  • The clutch kit

A standard kit, or one with a dual-mass flywheel, which many diesels have.

  • The flywheel

If it is worn it is best replaced at the same time, and we tell you before we do.

  • A clear quote first

You get the price for your car before we start, with no hidden fees.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the car

Your reg and what the clutch is doing.

  2. Get a clear quote

The price for your car, agreed before we book you in.

  3. Replaced where it is parked

On your driveway or in the car park at work.

  4. Test drive, then pay

We check it drives as it should before you pay.

Clutch questions

All questions

How much does a typical repair cost?

Without the overheads of a fixed garage, our labour rates are usually lower than main dealers and many local workshops. Prices depend on the job, the make and the parts needed, but you always get a clear quote before any work starts, and servicing is fixed-price. There are no hidden call-out fees within our normal area, and we will tell you if a repair would not be worth it compared with what the car is worth.

Can you really change a clutch on my driveway?

Yes, on most cars. We need a firm, level surface such as a driveway or car park and room to work around the car. If a particular job needs workshop equipment, we tell you before we start, then arrange transport and oversee the work so you are never left guessing.

Will I need a new flywheel as well?

Possibly. Many diesel and some petrol cars have a dual-mass flywheel, which wears alongside the clutch. We check it and tell you before replacing it, so the price you agreed is never a surprise.

How long should a clutch last?

It depends on how and where the car is driven. Plenty last 60,000 miles or more, but lots of town driving, hill starts and towing wear them out sooner, and so does resting your foot on the pedal.
